Uline Hydrogen – Fuel System

Uline, a distributor of shipping, industrial and packaging materials to businesses throughout North America deployed hydrogen nfrastructure and fuel cell solutions at Uline’s new campus in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The on-site hydrogen infrastructure support the operation of fuel cell forklifts that operated across the entire campus.

Challenge

The biggest challenge on this project was the installation of the underground concrete encased duct banks from the central hydrogen plant to four existing buildings. Coordinating the installation of the hydrogen fill stations at four locations in each building with existing lighting and branch wiring to be free from the classified areas of the fill stations was another big challenge for this project.

Solution

Through coordination meetings, BIM modeling and collaboration with the owner, general contractor and hydrogen system provider, we were able to provide locations for building entry that were cost effective, maintained the integrity of the building exterior and minimized the amount of relocation required to avoid the classified zones.
