Any time you're dealing with a historic project, there are challenges. Roman did very well. It was a great team effort. It's tough to start from scratch using the shell of the existing building.
Brix Apartment Lofts
The building was originally constructed in 1907 for the Ziegler Candy Company. The 98 open-style apartments feature Energy Star appliances, including washer and dryer, large windows, high ceilings and exposed ductwork. A new three-story parking structure is accessible through the basement and a second story bridge.
Challenge
Roman was enlisted to help remodel a historic building, running power through an existing structure with slanted floors and working around 18-inch-thick concrete, a style not normally used in modern construction.
Solution
While leveling the existing floors, Roman was able to embed conduit in the floors and add new wiring without disrupting the building’s historic character. Close coordination and constant x-raying ensured that we completed the work without disrupting any existing structure.
